Stylet: A solid inner rod that fits inside the hollow needle to keep it from clogging with skin or bone fragments during insertion. Cannula: The hollow outer tube that collects the core sample or allows the attachment of a syringe for liquid aspiration. Depth Markings: Include centimeter markings to help the physician monitor penetration depth.
